What does a seagull pecking at my window mean?

i heard a continuous noise and woke up saw a seagull sat on my window pane, when it saw me it stopped, i went closer but it didnt fly away it just stared at me! and then i went back to my bed, the seagull just stayed where it wa and flew away a few minutes later.
